Devin “The Poet”

When it comes to the SLAM POETRY SCENE, Devin “The Poet” is a force to be reckoned with. He is one of the youngest poets to win a spot on the historical Nuyorican Poets Cafeslam team. He is New York Knicks 2006 Slam Champion, Urban World NYC 2006 Slam Finalist and all of this was accomplished before approaching his 20th birthday.

 

 

Soulful Jones

The R & B poet, Soulful Jones is as good a singer, songwriter as he is a poet.  He has won several poetry slams across the country and has the distinction of having serveral “bombs” dropped on a song on by the legendary Funkmaster Flex on Hot 97 in NYC. 

He performs poetry and/or music at shows depending on the theme.

SciryL

SciryL, Lyrics backwards, a poet, rapper, singer, lyrical genius. Real name Brian Henry, Harlem born and raised. He started writing in the 6th grade and has not looked back since. The now 22 yr old, was introduced to the poetry scene at the age of 17, when his High school English teacher noticed his talent for writing and persuaded him to take part in the City Wide slam held every year by Urban Word NYC. 

SciryL is constantly performing, writing, touring, recording, teaching, and living for music. He has performed all around New York City, including performances at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) with Dead Prez and Arrested Development, The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, and most recently at the Apollo Theatre, opening up the 2010 Urban Word NYC finals.  He was invited to be on HBO’s most recent season of Def Poetry and he has also been featured on BET’s Freestyle on Spring Bling as well as 106 & Park.


Poetic Assasin

Sharp vocab, mind blowing metaphors, and a pocket full of wit are the make up of the poet herald as The Dark Knight. Those who have had the misfortune of being in competition against him understand all too well why although he was born Joseph Thomas, he is better known as Poetic Assasin. A moniker he uses because simply put, he gets the job done.

Standing on top of a mountain of accomplishments such as : Member of many  poetry crews to include 21 poetz, The JustUS League, Vice President of HipHopPoetry.com, earning a spot on the National Slam Team representing New Jersey in 2008 in Madison, Wisconsin, and New Jersey in 2009 in West Palm, Florida.


Naima Ince

Naima Yetunde Ince is a talented spoken word artist who has also flourished in the world of theater. Ince has a BA in Drama Studies. She attended SUNY Purchase College where she honed her theatrical skills with focuses as playwright, director and stage manager.

Ince has developed significant accomplishments within the New York City area as a performance poet and is now concentrating on production and direction of theatrical works as well as her spoken word art.

Parlé Bookings

Parlé Bookings is the online home for all Parlé acts including our poets, comedians, rappers and the one-woman stage play Georgia. The acts, although separate entities, make up the annual Parlé With Us tour peforming at colleges and universities across the country.
